I'm getting some drastic frame rate drops in texture transitions(from 60+ to 20's), is this due to my cpu fx-6300 or should I send the card in?

you didn't say what game you are playing tho , it could be from the processor or the graphics card but if you don't do some testing i can't tell you what happened . The FX 6300 is a decent enough processor for playing games and it shouldn't bottleneck the card to the 20s in any game at 1080p

The difference in performance between the different brands are + or - 5%. That translates to a frame or two tops…
