A mid to low level graphics card, the GeForce GTX 1060 Galax Gamer OC 3GB is found in budget machines nowadays, struggling to meet AAA system requirements.

GeForce GTX 1060 Galax Gamer OC 3GB is capable of DirectX 12 gaming requirements.

What FPS performance can the GeForce GTX 1060 Galax Gamer OC 3GB get on latest AAA 2022 games? In particular our game review looks at the FPS achieved running on Ultra graphics settings on the 1080p screen resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. The GeForce GTX 1060 Galax Gamer OC 3GB can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 437 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce GTX 1060 Galax Gamer OC 3GB can run Battlefield 2042 at 1080p and saw it return weak frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 30 FPS, Medium: 24 FPS, High: 16 FPS and Ultra: 12 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Days Gone returns a reasonable 46 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

We move on to 1440p, and tested Battlefield 2042 which delivered weak FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 23 FPS, Medium: 18 FPS, High: 12 FPS and Ultra: 9 FPS. GeForce GTX 1060 Galax Gamer OC 3GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 1060 Galax Gamer OC 3GB is an overclocked variant of the entry level Nvidia GTX 1000 performance graphics card, based on the Pascal Architecture. It comes with locked memory of 3GB instead of the full 6GB.

Architecture
It equips a GPU Codenamed P106-300-A1 which is a first gen Pascal GPU and has 9 SM activated, offering 1152 Shader Processing Units (the GTX 1060 6GB version offers 1280 SPU), 72 TMUs and 48 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1531MHz and goes up to 1746MHz, when Boost mode is activated.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 3GB frame buffer of GDDR5, through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 2002MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 120W, it requires at least a 400W PSU with one available 6-pin connector.

Performance
The GeForce GTX 1060 Galax Gamer OC 3GB will capably run the vast majority of 2016's triple A titles at very high graphics on 1080p with 60 frames per second. At 1440p graphics may need to be adjusted down to maintain 60 fps. Its the 3GB memory reduction that will hamper the high quality game textures this card can deliver, making it less future proof as more GPU memory hungry games are released.
