Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti MSI OC T 4GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti MSI OC T 4GB is a very low performing piece of gaming hardware and can probably only run indie system requirements.

DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti MSI OC T 4GB is at running the more popular games of 2023. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. 235 games can be played by this graphics card of the 1000 most demanding games being played by PC gamers today.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti MSI OC T 4GB can run Dying Light 2 at 1080p and saw it return weak frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Grand Theft Auto VI is predicted to return a weak 0 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

One of the growing popular screen resolutions for PC gaming is the wider 1440p. So we wanted to see how well the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti MSI OC T 4GB performed at 1440p by taking a look at some of the current popular games. First we looked at Dying Light 2 and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. We then checked the performance on Grand Theft Auto VI to predict if that will run well. It is predicted to be weak with a 0 FPS at Ultra 1440p. After a look at the popular games running at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti MSI OC T 4GB, this is not the best choice to run modern games.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti MSI OC T 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
This is MSI's overclocked, yet slightly streamlined, version of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, one of Nvidia's lower end graphics card. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. This card features a slightly overclocked clock and a dual fan cooling system.

Architecture
The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1341MHz and goes up to 1455MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
This card will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect it to deliver around 58+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
The GTX 1050 ti OC T, will be ever so slightly faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions
This card is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
