10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte D5 4GB is a very low performing piece of gaming hardware and can probably only run indie system requirements.

DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte D5 4GB. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2024. When considering how well this graphics card can run the 1000 most demanding games available today it can best 232 of the games’ recommended graphics requirements.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte D5 4GB performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Far Cry 6 and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. We proceeded to look at Star Citizen to see how that compared and predict that it will return a playable 34 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Moving screen sizes up to 1440p we ran Far Cry 6 on the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte D5 4GB to see that it got a weak set of frame rates. Here are the low to ultra results at 1440p - L: 0FPS, M: 0FPS, H: 0FPS, U: 0FPS. Another popular game to investigate at 1440p with this card was Star Citizen which we predicted will be playable in performance netting an Ultra FPS of 26 FPS. Finally we then took a look at Resident Evil 8 where its Ultra 1440p Frame rates were weak at 2 FPS. Gaming at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte D5 4GB is the wrong choice for PC gaming.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte D5 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti D5 4GB by Gigabyte is a slightly overclocked small form factor of Nvidia's lower end graphics card. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. It features a slight overclocking and a 90mm fan design.

The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1316MHz and goes up to 1430MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game in OC mode.

The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

The GTX 1050 Ti D5 by Gigabyte will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 56+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 1050 Ti D5 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
