10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte Windforce OC 4GB is a very low performing piece of gaming hardware and can probably only run indie system requirements.

DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte Windforce OC 4GB. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2023. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte Windforce OC 4GB can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 238 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte Windforce OC 4GB can run Resident Evil 8 at 1080p and saw it return weak frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 15 FPS, Medium: 11 FPS, High: 8 FPS and Ultra: 6 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Far Cry 6 returns a weak 0 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

We move on to 1440p, and tested Resident Evil 8 which delivered weak FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 11 FPS, Medium: 9 FPS, High: 6 FPS and Ultra: 4 FPS. Next we have Far Cry 6 running on GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte Windforce OC 4GB which gets L: 0FPS, M: 0FPS, H: 0FPS, U: 0FPS. And for performance contrast the popular Grand Theft Auto VI is predicted to get L: 0FPS, M: 0FPS, H: 0FPS, U: 0FPS at 1440p. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte Windforce OC 4GB is going to underperform if you try and run modern games.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte Windforce OC 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Windforce OC 4GB by Gigabyte is a higher end version of Nvidia's lower end graphics card the GTX 1050 Ti. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. It features an overclocked core speed, a back plate, a Windforce 2X cooling system and 2 extra HDMI slots.

Architecture
The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1354MHz and goes up to 1468MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in OC mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, this card requires a 6-pin power connector to power its added features
The GTX 1050 Ti Windforce OC will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 58+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Windofrce OC is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
