Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB is a very low performing piece of gaming hardware and can probably only run indie system requirements.

DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2021 popular games. This short GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 256 games in the list.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB can run Back 4 Blood at 1080p and saw it return playable frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 95 FPS, Medium: 75 FPS, High: 50 FPS and Ultra: 36 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Star Citizen is predicted to return a playable 32 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We discovered the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB ran Back 4 Blood to a playable performance level. Results across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 72 FPS, Medium: 57 FPS, High: 38 FPS and Ultra: 27 FPS. Another game researched was Star Citizen with predictions of L: 64FPS, M: 51FPS, H: 34FPS, U: 24FPS. And then we researched potential graphics card performance on Dying Light 2, wih estimates revealing L: 0FPS, M: 0FPS, H: 0FPS, U: 0FPS at 1440p. 1440p gaming on the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB is in need of some graphics adjustments to get some stability, which means its not an ideal gaming resolution for this GPU.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB which is 45% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 625 games from the most demanding games today. Alternatively upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the R-500 Series Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB which is 110% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 965 games from the most demanding games today.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti EVGA SC Gaming 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC Gaming by EVGA is a overclocked small form factor version of Nvidia's lower end graphics card the GTX 1050 Ti. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. It features an overclocked core speed and a non stock cooler.

Architecture
The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1354MHz and goes up to 1468MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
The GTX 1050 Ti SC Gaming will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 57/58+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC Gaming by EVGA is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
