How well can the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB is a very low performing piece of gaming hardware and can probably only run indie system requirements.

DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

What FPS performance can the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB get on latest AAA 2021 games? In particular our game review looks at the FPS achieved running on Ultra graphics settings on the 1080p screen resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 241 games in the list.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Forza Horizon 5 and predict it will deliver playable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 81 FPS, Medium: 63 FPS, High: 43 FPS and Ultra: 31 FPS. We proceeded to look at FIFA 22 to see how that compared and predict that it will return a reasonable 57 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB at 1440p and researched how Forza Horizon 5 might perform on it leading us to predict a weak set of FPS results. These were, Low: 61 FPS, Medium: 48 FPS, High: 33 FPS and Ultra: 23 FPS. We then checked out FIFA 22 which we predict would have a set of graphics results as followed, L: 115FPS, M: 90FPS, H: 61FPS, U: 43FPS. And another popular game was Star Citizen with predictions of L: 57FPS, M: 45FPS, H: 30FPS, U: 22FPS at 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB is not a bad choice for a larger screen size like this. Some games will struggle though, but with some careful graphic option adjustments in-game you can normally find a suitable visual experience with this GPU at 1440p.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB? A good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 52% better and can meet 633 of their recommended requirements. Alternatively upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5300 which is 26% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 312 games from the most demanding games today.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gainward 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti by Gainward is a small form factor version of the GT 1050 Ti. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. It features a non stock cooler.

Architecture
The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1290MHz and goes up to 1392MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
The GTX 1050 Ti by Gainward will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 55+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions
Gainward's GeForce GTX 1050 Ti StormX is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
