4 Jul 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

The Radeon RX 570 8GB is a high performing piece of gaming hardware, still confidently featuring in PC gamer computers. DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2020 popular games. This short Radeon RX 570 8GB game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. 411 games can be played by this graphics card of the 1000 most demanding games being played by PC gamers today.

Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the Radeon RX 570 8GB is running TrackMania Nations Remake and delivering strong performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 277 frames per second. Comparing this to Cyberpunk 2077 which is predicted to get playable results, where it averages 26 FPS. Another popular game we looked at is Hyper Scape, which is predicted to run at 48 frames per second.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the Radeon RX 570 8GB at 1440p with TrackMania Nations Remake, which got a strong set of FPS results. These were, Low: 557 FPS, Medium: 439 FPS, High: 295 FPS and Ultra: 211 FPS. We then checked out Cyberpunk 2077 which we predict would have a set of graphics results as followed, L: 51FPS, M: 40FPS, H: 27FPS, U: 19FPS. And another popular game was Hyper Scape with predictions of L: 97FPS, M: 76FPS, H: 51FPS, U: 37FPS at 1440p. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the Radeon RX 570 8GB is probably one of the better high resolution gaming options on the graphics card market. You can consider pushing most games up to 4K with this gpu and Ultra 1440p is going to be a regular occurrence for gaming today.

How many years will the Radeon RX 570 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 570 8GB in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX 570 8GB? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which is 39% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 861 games from the most demanding games today. Alternatively a good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the R-500 Series Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 46% better and can meet 946 of their recommended requirements.

Radeon RX 570 8GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
First off we should point out that this is not the new AMD Vega graphics card line. These new AMD Radeon RX 500 series cards are an uprated version of the RX 400 series that they are replacing. This RX 570 graphics card is one of the higher performance models from the new AMD Radeon RX 500 Series.
The AMD RX 570 8GB graphics card released in April 2017 as an AMD performance gaming graphics card. This card competes against Nvidia's GTX 1050 Ti and replaces the older Radeon RX 470. As a Polaris refresh, the RX 570 runs at a slightly faster clock speed than the RX 470.

Architecture
It is powered by the 14nm Pollaris 20 GPU, which has 2048 shader processing units, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1168MHz and goes up to 1244MHz, when the boost mode is triggered.

Memory
The RX570 comes with a 8GB frame buffer of GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 1750MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 120W, it requires at least a 400W PSU with one available 6-pin connector.

Performance
The AMD RX 570 has been built as a Mid/High performance graphics card for 2017. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2017 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this RX570 8GB card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.
System Suggestions
The RX 570 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid range R5 Ryzen processor and at least 8GB of system memory for optimal gaming performance from the RX 570.
