A mid to low level graphics card, the Radeon RX 580 4GB is found in budget machines nowadays, struggling to meet AAA system requirements.

DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

What FPS performance can the Radeon RX 580 4GB get on latest AAA 2023 games? In particular our game review looks at the FPS achieved running on Ultra graphics settings on the 1080p screen resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. Of the 1000 most demanding recommended specs found in game requirements today, this gpu is more powerful than the graphics requirement of 443 games in todays list.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the Radeon RX 580 4GB performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Days Gone and saw it deliver reasonable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 132 FPS, Medium: 104 FPS, High: 70 FPS and Ultra: 50 FPS. We proceeded to look at FIFA 22 to see how that compared and saw that it returned a strong 94 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

We move on to 1440p, and tested Days Gone which delivered playable FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 101 FPS, Medium: 79 FPS, High: 53 FPS and Ultra: 38 FPS. Next we have FIFA 22 running on Radeon RX 580 4GB which gets L: 189FPS, M: 149FPS, H: 100FPS, U: 72FPS. And for performance contrast the popular Far Cry 6 gets L: 47FPS, M: 37FPS, H: 25FPS, U: 18FPS at 1440p. After a look at the popular games running at 1440p with the Radeon RX 580 4GB, this is a solid choice of hardware for increased screen resolution gaming. We can see this graphics card is capable of delivering reliable frame rates at Ultra and certainly High graphics settings at 1440p.

Radeon RX 580 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
First off we should point out that this is not the new AMD Vega graphics card line. The new AMD Radeon RX 500 series are an uprated version of the RX 400 series that they are replacing. This RX 580 4GB graphics card is one of the two more powerful models from the new AMD Radeon RX 500 Series.

This RX 580 is the 4GB version and there is also the RX580 8GB version available, offering more VRAM for your gaming performance.

Architecture
It equips a GPU codenamed Polaris 20 XTX, which has 2304 shader processing units, 144 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The RX 580 4GB central processing unit runs at 1257MHz and goes up to 1365MHz when in boost and turbo mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock operates at 2000MHz.

Power Consumption
The RX 580 4GB has a power TDP requirement of 150W. This means it will require at least a 500W PSU with one dedicated 8-pin connector.

Performance
Early benchmarks indicate that the AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB will be similar in performance to the Nvidia GTX 1060 in terms of gaming performance. This puts the RX 580 4GB about 8% faster than the model it replaced, the AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB. Comparing the RX 580 to RX 570 we see 1440p frame rates around 8-15% better with the RX580 version

System Suggestions
The new Radeon RX 580 4GB releases on the 18th April 2017 and is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a high-end processor, like the new Ryzen R5 and at least 8GB of RAM for optimal gaming performance.
