How well can the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB run games
AMD Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p.

All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2022 popular games. This short Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. Of the 1000 most demanding recommended specs found in game requirements today, this gpu is more powerful than the graphics requirement of 725 games in todays list.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We are seeing FIFA 22 getting 103 FPS with the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB, Resident Evil 8 getting 28 FPS and Grand Theft Auto VI predicted to get 28 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

People are turning their increasingly more powerful graphics cards to the popular 1440p screen size so we tested the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB to see how it performs on 1440p. First off we have looked at FIFA 22 where it was good. The frame rates it scored for the game presets were - Low: 206 FPS, Medium: 163 FPS, High: 109 FPS and Ultra: 78 FPS. We added Resident Evil 8 to our tests and saw it was weak with a 21 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And then researched Grand Theft Auto VI leading us to predict 21 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Gaming at 1440p with the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB is certainly capable of running larger monitor gaming at Ultra or High graphics settings.

How many years will the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB in your PC? There is still 2 years of top end gaming left in this Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB.

Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
First off we should point out that this is not the new AMD Vega graphics card line. The new AMD Radeon RX 500 series are an uprated version of the RX 400 series that they are replacing. This VisionTek RX 580 OC graphics card is one of the two more powerful models from the new AMD Radeon RX 500 Series.

This RX 580 is the 8GB version and there is also the lower VRAM version, RX580 4GB available.

Architecture
It equips a GPU codenamed Polaris 20 XTX, which has 2304 shader processing units, 144 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The Radeon RX 580 VisionTek OC 8GB central processing unit runs at 1257MHz and goes up to a top 1366MHz when in boost and turbo mode with the reference RX 580 card's boost is 1340MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 8GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock operates at 2000MHz.

Power Consumption
The RX 580 8GB has a power TDP requirement of 150W. This means it will require at least a 500W PSU with one dedicated 8-pin connector.

Performance
Early benchmarks indicate that the AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB will be similar in performance to the Nvidia GTX 1060 in terms of gaming performance. This puts the RX 580 8GB about 8% faster than the model it replaced, the AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB. Comparing the RX 580 to RX 570 we see 1440p frame rates around 8-15% better with the RX580 version

System Suggestions
The new VisionTek RX 580 OC 8GB released on the 18th April 2017 and is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a high-end processor, like the new Ryzen R5 and at least 8GB of RAM for optimal gaming performance.
