How well can the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB run games
AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2022 popular games. This short Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. The Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 961 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We are seeing FIFA 22 getting 144 FPS with the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB, Dying Light 2 predicted to get 54 FPS and Grand Theft Auto VI predicted to get 49 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

People are turning their increasingly more powerful graphics cards to the popular 1440p screen size so we tested the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB to see how it performs on 1440p. First off we have looked at FIFA 22 where it was strong. The frame rates it scored for the game presets were - Low: 289 FPS, Medium: 228 FPS, High: 153 FPS and Ultra: 109 FPS. We added Dying Light 2 to our research and predict it will be playable with a 41 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And then researched Grand Theft Auto VI leading us to predict 37 FPS at Ultra 1440p. 1440p gaming on the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB is more than capable at running this screen resolution. 1440p Ultra across almost all modern games is going to be fairly standard with this GPU. We would consider moving this hardware up to 4K screen resolutions for PC gaming today.

How many years will the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for 2 to 3 years of meeting top end game system requirements

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB.

Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB is an Enthusiast Graphics Card based on the Fourth (4.0) Revision of the Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture.

Architecture
The Vega 10 XT GPU offers support for HBM-2 Memory, DirectX 12.0 and Open GL 4.5. Vega 10 XTX is the Full Variant of the GPU with 64 Compute Units activated, offering 4096 Shader Processing Units, 256 TMUs and 64 ROPs.

GPU
The Central Unit is clocked at 1600MHz.

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with stacked HBM-2 Memory and accesses the Frame Buffer through a 2048-bit memory interface.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 8GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory.
However, the GPU itself is aimed for 4K Gaming, In some limited scenarios, 8GB might be a bottleneck and Performance could be better were the Frame Buffer larger.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 275W, it requires at least a 600W PSU with two available 8-pin connectors.

Performance
Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB competes with GeForce GTX 1080 8GB, which is available for $499.
Specs currently available suggest the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB performance should be in the same region as the GeForce GTX 1080. However, the ultra-wide HBM2 memory may offer the Radeon RX Vega an advantage at higher resolutions.
System Suggestions
Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid 8GB HBM2 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840 x2160 (4K). We recommend a Very Strong Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
