How well can the GeForce GTX 1650 run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

The GeForce GTX 1650 is a very low performing piece of gaming hardware and can probably only run indie system requirements.

Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the GeForce GTX 1650. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2023. In terms of performance against the most demanding games today this graphics card can play 297 of the 1000 most demanding PC games beating their recommended requirements.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 1650 performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Forza Horizon 5 and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 48 FPS, Medium: 37 FPS, High: 25 FPS and Ultra: 18 FPS. We proceeded to look at FIFA 22 to see how that compared and saw that it returned a good 69 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we booted up Forza Horizon 5 to see how the GeForce GTX 1650 dealt with it. It scored up a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 36 FPS, Medium: 29 FPS, High: 19 FPS and Ultra: 14 FPS. Next we looked at FIFA 22 which was reasonable with a 53 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Resident Evil 8 that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 14. Looking at a few of these 1440p results for the GeForce GTX 1650 we get the impression that it is not a bad choice for a larger screen size like this. Some games will struggle though, but with some careful graphic option adjustments in-game you can normally find a suitable visual experience with this GPU at 1440p.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1650 in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1650? If you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 29% better and can run 716 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games. Alternatively upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the R-500 Series Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB which is 82% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 956 games from the most demanding games today.

GeForce GTX 1650 Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The GeForce GTX 1650 is an Nvidia GeForce low-end graphics card which launched in April 2019. The GeForce GTX 1650 is designed to compete against AMD's more affordable gaming cards such as the RX 550 and the RX 560, and replaces the outgoing GTX 1050.
This is a daul-slot graphics card which connects to the rest of the system using a PCIe 3.0 x16 interface.
Architecture
The Turing Architecture aims for 30-50% as much performance as the previous-gen Pascal Architecture.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed Turing T107-400, more specifically a TU117-300-A1, which has 14 SM activated and thus 896 Shader Processing Units, 56 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1485 MHz and goes up to 1665 MHz with the Boost Clock.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 2000 MHz (8GHz effective).

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
The GeForce GTX 1650 will enable low to mid-level graphics performance on modern AAA 2019 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 50+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card has slightly faster performance than the GTX 1050 Ti.

System Suggestions
The GeForce GTX 1650 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080, so our recommendation would be to use 19200x1080 in order to get the most out of your settings. We recommend a high-end processor such as the i5-8400 and 8GB of RAM for optimal performance.
