How well can the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB run games
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB is at running the more popular games of 2021. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 999.

Running at 1080p this card is predicted to get a good frame rate from Dying Light 2 with 71 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at Forza Horizon 5 which is predicted to return a good 76 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Battlefield 2042 which we predict will get a good 61 FPS.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we researched the upcoming Dying Light 2 to predict how the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB would deal with it. Our research revealed a reasonable series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 142 FPS, Medium: 112 FPS, High: 75 FPS and Ultra: 54 FPS. Next we looked at Forza Horizon 5 which we predict will be reasonable with a 58 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Battlefield 2042 that we predict will get an Ultra 1440p FPS of 46. Gaming at 1440p with the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB is capable of delivering a solid gaming experience across larger screen sized monitors. We expect to see High and Ultra graphics settings across most games at 1440p with this GPU.

How many years will the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB in your PC? 2-3 years of top end gaming before an upgrade

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB.

GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB is a top-end RTX 20 Series graphics card and considered an Enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing architecture. This is a triple-slot graphics card with TRI-FROZR triple-fan cooling, TORX 3.0 fans, and excellent overclocking capabilities. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing (RTX) technology. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed TU102 which has 4352 Shader Processing Units, 272 TMUs and 88 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1350MHz and goes up to 1575MHz in Boost mode, offering a small 2% overclock compared to the reference model. It also has 544 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. Memory The GPU accesses an 11GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 352-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 250W, it requires at least a 650W PSU with three 8-pin power connectors. System Suggestions The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Lightning 11GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a top-End Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
