10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Game performance for the GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB where we look at the bigger games played in 2023. Looking closely at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 930 games in the list.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB can run Forza Horizon 5 at 1080p and saw it return reasonable frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 144 FPS, Medium: 113 FPS, High: 76 FPS and Ultra: 55 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Dying Light 2 returns a reasonable 51 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

People are turning their increasingly more powerful graphics cards to the popular 1440p screen size so we tested the GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB to see how it performs on 1440p. First off we have looked at Forza Horizon 5 where it was playable. The frame rates it scored for the game presets were - Low: 110 FPS, Medium: 86 FPS, High: 58 FPS and Ultra: 42 FPS. We added Dying Light 2 to our tests and saw it was playable with a 39 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And then researched Star Citizen leading us to predict 61 FPS at Ultra 1440p. In summary we feel the GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB running at 1440p is capable of delivering a solid gaming experience across larger screen sized monitors. We expect to see High and Ultra graphics settings across most games at 1440p with this GPU.

How many years will the GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB in your PC? 2-3 years of top end gaming before an upgrade

GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB is a mid-range GeForce 20 Series graphics card and considered a great price to performance RTX graphics card based on the Turing architecture. This is a dual-slot video card with two 100mm Windforce 2X alternate spinning fans and a protective back plate. This is a fairly basic RTX 2060 model and won't be a great overclocker. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing (RTX) technology. The GeForce RTX 2060 supports real-time ray-tracing and excels at 1080p screen resolution. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU106-200A-KA-A which has 1920 Shader Processing Units, 120 TMUs, 47 ROPs, and features a factory overclock. The central unit runs at 1365 MHz and goes up to 1755 MHz in Boost mode, offering a 4% overclock compared to the reference model. Memory The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 160W, it requires at least a 500W PSU with one 8-pin power connector. System Suggestions GeForce RTX 2060 Gigabyte OC 6GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a mid-range Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
