How well can the GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB run games
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2021 popular games. This short GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 986.

A GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB card at 1080p is seeing a strong frame rate when running Days Gone on Ultra - 81 FPS. Lets look at the predicted performance it will get on Forza Horizon 5 which is 88 FPS. To add a bit more variety lets see how the popular Dying Light 2 is predicted to perform on this hardware, which gets a reasonable 57 FPS.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB at 1440p with Days Gone, which got a good set of FPS results. These were, Low: 162 FPS, Medium: 128 FPS, High: 86 FPS and Ultra: 61 FPS. We then checked out Forza Horizon 5 which we predict would have a set of graphics results as followed, L: 177FPS, M: 140FPS, H: 94FPS, U: 67FPS. And another popular game was Dying Light 2 with predictions of L: 115FPS, M: 90FPS, H: 61FPS, U: 43FPS at 1440p. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB is a very good hardware option at these screen sizes. Ultra is easily achieved across almost all games at 1440p and we would suggest an increase of screen size up to 4K for this graphics card.

How many years will the GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB in your PC? This gpu has around 2+ years of running AAA recommended system requirements before any upgrades should be considered.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB.

GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview The GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB is a High-End Graphics Card based on the 12nm Turing Architecture and is considered a great 1440p video card. This is a dual-slot graphics card with three 100mm Windforce cooling fans, seven video outputs, metal backplate, 12 power phase overclocking and customisable RGB lighting. This video card has good overclocking potential. Architecture It equips a cut-down Turing GPU Codenamed TU106, more specifically the TU106-400A-A1 variant. This is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 16 SM activated, offering 2304 CUDA Shader Processing Units, 144 TMUs, and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing (RTX) technology. It is equipped with 288 Tensor Cores for AI purposes and 32 RT Cores for ray-tracing. GPU The central unit runs at 1410 MHz and goes up to 1770 MHz in Boost Mode, offering a good 9% overclock compared to the reference model. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of Second Gen GDDR6 through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective. Total memory bandwidth is 448GB/s. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 175W, it requires at least a 550W PSU with one available 8-pin and one 6-pin power connector. Performance The GeForce RTX 2070 offers performance in between the GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, albeit also boasting ray-tracing and DLSS support. System Suggestions The GeForce RTX 2070 Gigabyte Aorus 8GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a high-end processor and 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
