Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2021 popular games. This short GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. When considering how well this graphics card can run the 1000 most demanding games available today it can best 994 of the games’ recommended graphics requirements.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We are seeing Far Cry 6 getting 60 FPS with the GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB, Back 4 Blood getting 98 FPS and Resident Evil 8 getting 66 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB at 1440p with Far Cry 6, which got a reasonable set of FPS results. These were, Low: 121 FPS, Medium: 95 FPS, High: 64 FPS and Ultra: 46 FPS. We then checked out Back 4 Blood which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 196FPS, M: 155FPS, H: 104FPS, U: 74FPS. And another popular game was Resident Evil 8 that returned L: 133FPS, M: 105FPS, H: 70FPS, U: 50FPS at 1440p. 1440p gaming on the GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB is a strong choice at these screen resolutions. With Ultra graphics settings being regularly reached at 1440p gaming its easy to consider bumping up the screen size to 4K for this graphics card.

How many years will the GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB in your PC? 2-3 years of top end gaming before an upgrade

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB.

GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview The GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB is a High-End Graphics Card based on the Turing Architecture and is suitable for 1440p or 4K gaming. This is a dual-slot graphics card with rudimentary blower fan cooling. This video card has poor overclocking potential. Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104. More specifically, it uses the TU104-400A-A1 variant which means factor overclocks are permitted. This is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 20 SM activated, offering 2944 Shader Processing Units, 184 TMUs, and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing (RTX) technology. It also has 368 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU The central unit runs at 1515MHz and goes up to 1710MHz in Turbo Mode, the same as the reference specs and 5% slower than the clock speeds on the Founders Edition. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of Second Gen GDDR6 through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective. Total memory bandwidth is 448 Gb/s. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 215W, it requires at least a 650W PSU with available 8-pin + 6-pin power connector. Performance The performance of the GeForce RTX 2080 is slightly faster than the GTX 1080 Ti, making it a suitable graphics card for 4K gaming. System Suggestions GeForce RTX 2080 Gigabyte Turbo 8GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a High-End Processor and 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
