Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

Gamers upgrading will be considering the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB graphics card as a serious price to performance entry point. This card will meet and play most demanding AAA games and do so with good graphics setting as standard, and confidently pushing past the recommended game system requirements needed to run today’s games.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

Here is a quick game performance synopsis for the AAA games played in 2023. In particular we focus on how well the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB runs at Ultra graphics settings and what frames per second it is getting at 1080p, 1440p and 4K monitor resolutions. The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 800 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

The 1080p FPS on Ultra for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB shows us that Resident Evil 8 is getting a reasonable result of 49 FPS, and then we are seeing Battlefield 2042 returning a playable 36 FPS while another game on our list is the Dying Light 2 which is getting 45 frames per second at Ultra 1080p.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB at 1440p with Battlefield 2042, which got a playable set of FPS results. These were, Low: 72 FPS, Medium: 57 FPS, High: 38 FPS and Ultra: 27 FPS. We then checked out Dying Light 2 which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 90FPS, M: 71FPS, H: 48FPS, U: 34FPS. And another popular game was Resident Evil 8 that returned L: 99FPS, M: 78FPS, H: 52FPS, U: 37FPS at 1440p. Looking at a few of these 1440p results for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB we get the impression that it is a perfectly suitable selection of hardware for theis larger screen size. If a game at 1440p struggles a bit or experiences a frame drop then you can tweak settings in game to help get it stable. This might mean lowering it to medium or low in some specific options.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB in your PC? This gpu has around 2+ years of running AAA recommended system requirements before any upgrades should be considered.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB.

GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB is a mid-range GeForce 16 Series graphics card and considered a great price to performance 1080p graphics card based on the Turing architecture. This is a dual-slot graphics card with rudimentary single-fan blower cooling. This video card has poor overclocking potential. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. Unlike the RTX series, the GTX series does not support real-time ray-tracing. However, a lower quality version of DXR ray-tracing will be enabled in a future software update. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU116, more specifically TU116-400-A1, which has 1536 Shader Processing Units, 96 TMUs, 48 ROPs, and 24 SMs. The central unit runs at 1500 MHz and goes up to 1785 MHz in Boost mode, providing a small 1% overclock versus the reference model. Memory The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz, or 12GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 120W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with an 8-pin power connector. System Suggestions GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Galax Blower 6GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440, but is ideally suited for 1080p gaming. We recommend a mid-range Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
