While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

What FPS performance can the GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB get on latest AAA 2021 games? In particular our game review looks at the FPS achieved running on Ultra graphics settings on the 1080p screen resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 766.

The 1080p FPS on Ultra for the GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB shows us that Resident Evil 8 is getting a playable result of 40 FPS, and then we are seeing Days Gone returning a reasonable 55 FPS while another game on our list is the Back 4 Blood which is predicted to get 62 frames per second at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we booted up Days Gone to see how the GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB dealt with it. It scored up a playable series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 110 FPS, Medium: 86 FPS, High: 58 FPS and Ultra: 42 FPS. Next we looked at Back 4 Blood which we predict will be reasonable with a 47 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Resident Evil 8 that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 31. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB is a good choice of hardware for increased screen resolution gaming. We can see this graphics card is capable of delivering reliable frame rates at Ultra and certainly High graphics settings at 1440p.

GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB is an entry to mid-level Nvidia graphics card which launched on March 14th, 2019. The GeForce GTX 1660 is designed to compete against AMD's more affordable gaming cards such as the RX 570 and the RX 580, and replaces the outgoing GTX 1060. The GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB is a dual-slot graphics card with a triple-fan Windforce 3X cooling solution, RGB Fusion 2.0 lighting, and a protective back plate. This graphics card has above average overclocking potential.

Architecture
The Turing GPU architecture aims for 30-50% as much performance as the previous-gen Pascal Architecture.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Turing TU116, more specifically the TU166-300-A1, which has 22 SM activated and thus 1408 Shader Processing Units, 88 TMUs, and 48 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1530 MHz and goes up to 1860 MHz with the Boost Clock, providing a 4% overclock versus the reference model.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5 through a 192-bit memory interface, while the memory clock Operates at 2001MHz, or 8GHz effective.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 150W, this graphics card requires one 8-pin power connector and a minimum of a 450W power supply.

Performance
The GeForce GTX 1660 will enable medium to high graphics performance on modern AAA 2018 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 50+ FPS on High graphics settings at 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will have slightly faster performance than the GTX 1060.

System Suggestions
The GeForce GTX 1660 Gigabyte Gaming OC 6GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440, so our recommendation would be to use 1920x1080 in order to get the most out of your settings. We recommend a high-end processor such as the i5-8500 and 12GB of RAM for optimal performance.
