Mobility Radeon HD 5850 Game Requirement Analysis
Mobility Radeon HD 5850 is a high-end GPU based on the 40nm, Terascale 2 architecture.
It's based on the Broadway PRO Core and offers 800 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs, on 128-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at up to 625MHz (500MHz, 450MHz versions are also possible) and the memory clock operates at up to 1000MHz. It consumes no more than 39 Watt, though underclocked versions might consume less than 33 Watt.
Benchmarks indicate most modern demanding games of 2007-2010, such as Crysis, BF2 and Metro 2033 were playable at high settings smoothly. Therefore, today's modern demanding games should be playable at least on the medium preset, using a 720p+ resolution.
Note 1: This GPU was also manufactured with DDR3. The DDR3 variant performs considerably worse and modern demanding games from 2007-2010 were only playable on medium settings smoothly. This was largely due to the bottleneck that is the DDR3 memory to the GPU itself, especially at a 720p+ resolution.
