AMD Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Lets look at the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB game performance guide for some of the biggest games played in 2022. In particular we will see how well this graphics card runs on Ultra settings on 1080p resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 971 games in the list.

Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB is running Back 4 Blood and delivering good performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 70 frames per second. Comparing this to Dying Light 2 which is getting reasonable results, where it averages 56 FPS. Another popular game we looked at is FIFA 22, which is running at 148 frames per second.

People are turning their increasingly more powerful graphics cards to the popular 1440p screen size so we tested the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB to see how it performs on 1440p. First off we have looked at Back 4 Blood where it was reasonable. The frame rates it scored for the game presets were - Low: 140 FPS, Medium: 110 FPS, High: 74 FPS and Ultra: 53 FPS. We added Dying Light 2 to our tests and saw it was playable with a 43 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And then tested FIFA 22 which got 113 FPS at Ultra 1440p. 1440p gaming on the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB is a solid performer with higher resolution modern gaming. This graphics card can also bump up to 4K gaming regularly with the latest games still being capable of high or ultra graphics settings at this level.

How many years will the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB in your PC? 2-3 years of top end gaming before an upgrade

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB.

Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The AMD Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB is an Enthusiast gaming Graphics Card based on the first (1.0) Revision of the RDNA Architecture.

Architecture
The Navi 10 XL GPU offers support for GDDR6 Memory, DirectX 12.0, Vulkan 1.0, and OpenGL 4.5. This variant of the Navi 10 XL GPU features 36 Compute Units activated, offering 2304 Shader Processing Units, 144 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The GPU features a 1465 MHz base clock speed and up to 1725 MHz with boost clock, making it an estimated 15% faster than a GeForce RTX 2060. This puts its predicted performance roughly in line with the Radeon RX Vega 64.

GPU
The Central Unit is clocked at 1465 MHz, rising to 1725 MHz with boost clock enabled..

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with high-speed GDDR6 and accesses the Frame Buffer through a 256-bit memory interface, providing total memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 8GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory.
However, the GPU itself is aimed for 4K Gaming, In some limited scenarios, 8GB might be a bottleneck and Performance could be better were the Frame Buffer larger, however this would only be an issue in the most demanding games.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 180W, it requires at least a 600W PSU with one available 8+6-pin connector.

Performance
The AMD Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB competes with GeForce RTX 2070 8GB, which is available for $499.
Specs currently available suggest the AMD Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB performance should be in the same region as the Radeon RX Vega 64.
System Suggestions
The AMD Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840 x2160 (4K). For the most demanding AAA games it should be ideally suited to 1440p. We recommend a Very Strong Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
