Here is a quick game performance synopsis for the AAA games played in 2023. In particular we focus on how well the Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB runs at Ultra graphics settings and what frames per second it is getting at 1080p, 1440p and 4K monitor resolutions. This card runs recommended graphics requirements of 716 games from the top 1000 most demanding games being played today.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Resident Evil 8 and saw it deliver playable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 71 FPS, Medium: 56 FPS, High: 38 FPS and Ultra: 27 FPS. We proceeded to look at Back 4 Blood to see how that compared and saw that it returned a reasonable 48 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we booted up Resident Evil 8 to see how the Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB dealt with it. It scored up a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 54 FPS, Medium: 43 FPS, High: 29 FPS and Ultra: 21 FPS. Next we looked at Back 4 Blood which was playable with a 36 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Days Gone that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 42. Running games at 1440p with a Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB is a suitable graphics card for this larger screen res. In some cases we might expect some graphics option tweaks down from Ultra to High to help improve FPS stability when gaming at 1440p.
