How well can the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB run games
AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p.

All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.

Here is a performance review on how capable the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB is at running the more popular games of 2023. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. This card runs recommended graphics requirements of 716 games from the top 1000 most demanding games being played today.

Running at 1080p this card gets a playable frame rate from Dying Light 2 with 35 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at Grand Theft Auto VI which is predicted to return a playable 28 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Forza Horizon 5 which we saw getting a reasonable 48 FPS.

As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We discovered the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB ran Dying Light 2 to a playable performance level. Results across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 70 FPS, Medium: 56 FPS, High: 37 FPS and Ultra: 27 FPS. Another game researched was Grand Theft Auto VI with predictions of L: 55FPS, M: 44FPS, H: 29FPS, U: 21FPS. And then we checked graphics card performance on Forza Horizon 5, which returned L: 96FPS, M: 75FPS, H: 51FPS, U: 36FPS at 1440p. In summary we feel the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB running at 1440p is not a bad choice for a larger screen size like this. Some games will struggle though, but with some careful graphic option adjustments in-game you can normally find a suitable visual experience with this GPU at 1440p.

How many years will the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for around 2 years

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the Radeon RX 5500 XT Gigabyte OC 8GB.
