How well can the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p.

All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.

Here is a quick game performance synopsis for the AAA games played in 2022. In particular we focus on how well the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile runs at Ultra graphics settings and what frames per second it is getting at 1080p, 1440p and 4K monitor resolutions. 760 games can be played by this graphics card of the 1000 most demanding games being played by PC gamers today.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Dying Light 2 and predict it will deliver playable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 95 FPS, Medium: 75 FPS, High: 50 FPS and Ultra: 36 FPS. We proceeded to look at Forza Horizon 5 to see how that compared and saw that it returned a playable 41 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Moving screen sizes up to 1440p we researched Dying Light 2 on the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile and predict it will get a playable set of frame rates. Here are the low to ultra predictions at 1440p - L: 72FPS, M: 57FPS, H: 38FPS, U: 27FPS. Another popular game to test at 1440p with this card was Forza Horizon 5 which seemed playable in performance netting an Ultra FPS of 31 FPS. Finally we then took a look at Grand Theft Auto VI where its predicted Ultra 1440p Frame rates were playable at 27 FPS. In summary we feel the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile running at 1440p is ok at playing most games but might need to have the graphics settings lowered to medium preset in some cases.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile in your PC? 2-3 years of top end gaming before an upgrade

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile.

GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Mobile Game Requirement Analysis

Overview GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile is a mid-range GeForce 16 Series graphics card for laptops based on the Turing GPU architecture. It is considered a great price to performance graphics card. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. Unlike the RTX series, the GTX series does not support real-time ray-tracing. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU116, which has 1536 Shader Processing Units, 96 TMUs, 48 ROPs and 24 SMs. The central unit runs at 1455 MHz and goes up to 1590 MHz in Boost mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz, or 12GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80W the GTX 1660 Ti Mobile is averagely resource-intensive and will fairly significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid-range Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
