How well can the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q graphics card is considered budget with poor modern game performance when playing anything more demanding than indie game requirements.

All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.

How well will the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q run 2023 games? We will take a look at the biggest releases and frames per second analysis on Ultra graphics settings. The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 363 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

Running at 1080p this card is predicted to get a weak frame rate from Grand Theft Auto VI with 20 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at Resident Evil 8 which returns a playable 26 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Dying Light 2 which we saw getting a weak 20 FPS.

As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We predict the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q will run the upcoming game Grand Theft Auto VI to a weak performance level. Predictions across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 39 FPS, Medium: 31 FPS, High: 21 FPS and Ultra: 15 FPS. Another game tested was Resident Evil 8, L: 51FPS, M: 40FPS, H: 27FPS, U: 19FPS. And then we checked graphics card performance on Dying Light 2, which returned L: 39FPS, M: 31FPS, H: 21FPS, U: 15FPS at 1440p. In summary we feel the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q running at 1440p is going to struggle to keep a solid FPS, but a modern game could have a few options tweaked to get it playable at this res but on low graphics settings.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q in your PC? This GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q Game Requirement Analysis

Overview GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile is a mid-range GeForce 16 Series graphics card for laptops based on the Turing GPU architecture. It is smaller and doesn't drain the battery as fast compared to the mobile version, but it is weaker in performance. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. Unlike the RTX series, the GTX series does not support real-time ray-tracing. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU116, which has 1536 Shader Processing Units, 96 TMUs, 48 ROPs and 24 SMs. The central unit runs at 1455 MHz and goes up to 1590 MHz in Boost mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz, or 12GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80W the GTX 1660 Ti Mobile is averagely resource-intensive and will fairly significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid-range Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
