10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The Radeon RX 5900 will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the Radeon RX 5900 can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.

How well will the Radeon RX 5900 run 2021 games? We will take a look at the biggest releases and frames per second analysis on Ultra graphics settings. When considering how well this graphics card can run the 1000 most demanding games available today it can best 994 of the games’ recommended graphics requirements.

The 1080p FPS on Ultra for the Radeon RX 5900 shows us that Star Citizen is predicted to get a strong result of 97 FPS, and then we are seeing Back 4 Blood returning a good 78 FPS while another game on our list is the Days Gone which is getting 90 frames per second at Ultra 1080p.

Radeon RX 5900 Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The Radeon RX 5900 is an Enthusiast gaming Graphics Card based on the first (1.0) Revision of the RDNA 2 Architecture. These specs are yet to be confirmed.

Architecture
The Big Navi 10 XL GPU offers support for GDDR6 Memory, DirectX 12.0, Vulkan 1.0, and OpenGL 4.5. This variant of the Big Navi 10 XL GPU features 40 Compute Units activated, offering XX Shader Processing Units, XX TMUs and XX ROPs. The GPU features a XX MHz base clock speed and up to XX MHz with boost clock, making it an estimated XX% faster than a Radeon RX Vega 64. This puts its predicted performance roughly in line with the GeForce RTX 2080.

GPU
The Central Unit is clocked at XX MHz, rising to XX MHz with boost clock enabled.

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with high-speed GDDR6 and accesses the Frame Buffer through a 256-bit memory interface, providing total memory bandwidth of XX GB/s.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to XXGB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory.
However, the GPU itself is aimed for 4K Gaming, In some limited scenarios, XXGB might be a bottleneck and Performance could be better were the Frame Buffer larger, however this would only be an issue in the most demanding games.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 225W, it requires at least a 600W PSU with one available 8+6-pin connector.

Performance
AMD Radeon RX 5900 competes with GeForce RTX 2070 8GB, which is available for $599.
Specs currently available suggest the AMD Radeon RX 5900 performance should be in the same region as the GeForce RTX 2070.
System Suggestions
AMD Radeon RX 5900 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840 x2160 (4K). For the most demanding AAA games it should be ideally suited to 4K. We recommend a Very Strong Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
