How well can the Radeon RX 5300M run games
AMD Radeon RX 5300M
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

The Radeon RX 5300M is a very low performing piece of gaming hardware and can probably only run indie system requirements.

Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the Radeon RX 5300M. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2021. Of the 1000 most demanding recommended specs found in game requirements today, this gpu is more powerful than the graphics requirement of 265 games in todays list.

The Radeon RX 5300M graphics card is returning a good performance on FIFA 22 at 1080p of 71 frames per second at Ultra graphics settings. Another popular title that is good to benchmark graphics cards against is Resident Evil 8 which we saw got weak frame rates of 0 FPS. A third game we can look at on Ultra at 1080p is the popular Far Cry 6, which was getting 0 FPS under tests.

One of the growing popular screen resolutions for PC gaming is the wider 1440p. So we wanted to see how well the Radeon RX 5300M performed at 1440p by taking a look at some of the current popular games. First we looked at FIFA 22 and saw it deliver reasonable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 142 FPS, Medium: 112 FPS, High: 75 FPS and Ultra: 54 FPS. We then checked the performance on Resident Evil 8 to see if that runs well. It was weak with a 0 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Gaming at 1440p with the Radeon RX 5300M is not ideal and its more advisable to run modern games at 1080p resolution. But if you really want to play games at 1440p then you will likely have to make some graphical adjustments to improve game FPS stability.

How many years will the Radeon RX 5300M graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 5300M in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX 5300M? A good choice when looking to upgrade the Radeon RX 5300M would be the 20 Series GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q which meets 824 of the 1000 top game’s recommended system requirements and has 84% better performance.

Radeon RX 5300M Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The Radeon RX 5300M is an entry-level laptop graphics card which is part of the AMD Radeon RX 5000M series.

Architecture
It is powered by the 7nm Navi GPU, which has 1408 shader processing units, 88 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1000MHz and goes up to 1445MHz when the boost mode is triggered.

Memory
The RX 5300M comes with a 3GB frame buffer of GDDR6 through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 1750MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 85W, it requires at least a 450W PSU.

Performance
The Radeon RX 5300M been built as a Low/Mid performance graphics card for 2019. Its direct competitor is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070M. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2019 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this Radeon RX 5300M card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.

System Suggestions
The Radeon RX 5300M is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid range Ryzen 5 processor and at least 8GB of system memory for optimal gaming performance from the RX 5300M.
