How well can the Radeon Pro 5600M run games
AMD Radeon Pro 5600M
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This Radeon Pro 5600M graphics card is considered budget with poor modern game performance when playing anything more demanding than indie game requirements.

Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Lets look at the Radeon Pro 5600M game performance guide for some of the biggest games played in 2022. In particular we will see how well this graphics card runs on Ultra settings on 1080p resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 305 games in the list.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We predict that Star Citizen will get 44 FPS with the Radeon Pro 5600M, Battlefield 2042 getting 2 FPS and Dying Light 2 getting 21 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We predict the Radeon Pro 5600M will run the upcoming game Star Citizen to a playable performance level. Predictions across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 88 FPS, Medium: 69 FPS, High: 46 FPS and Ultra: 33 FPS. Another game tested was Battlefield 2042, L: 4FPS, M: 3FPS, H: 2FPS, U: 2FPS. And then we checked graphics card performance on Dying Light 2, which returned L: 41FPS, M: 33FPS, H: 22FPS, U: 16FPS at 1440p. Gaming at 1440p with the Radeon Pro 5600M is not the best resolution for this GPU, but if you adjust some graphics settings, perhaps lowering to medium or low at 1440p then this graphics card might be ok.

How many years will the Radeon Pro 5600M graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon Pro 5600M in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon Pro 5600M? A good choice when looking to upgrade the Radeon Pro 5600M would be the 20 Series GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q which meets 812 of the 1000 top game’s recommended system requirements and has 56% better performance.

Radeon Pro 5600M Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
\r\nThe Radeon PRO 5600M is an entry-level laptop graphics card which is part of the AMD Radeon RX 5000M series.

\r\nArchitecture
\r\nIt is powered by the 7nm Navi GPU, which has 2560 shader processing units, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs.

\r\nGPU
\r\nThe central unit runs at 1000MHz and goes up to  1030MHz when the boost mode is triggered.

\r\nMemory
\r\nThe PRO 5600M comes with a 8GB frame buffer of HBM2 through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 770MHz.

\r\nPower Consumption
\r\nWith a rated board TDP of 50W, it requires at least a 450W PSU.

\r\nPerformance
\r\nThe Radeon PRO 5600M been built as a Low/Mid performance graphics card for 2020. Its direct competitor is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070M. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2020 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this Radeon PRO 5600M card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.

\r\nSystem Suggestions
\r\nThe Radeon PRO 5600M is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid range Ryzen 5 processor and at least 8GB of system memory for optimal gaming performance from the PRO 5600M.
