How well can the Radeon RX 5300 run games
AMD Radeon RX 5300
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This Radeon RX 5300 graphics card is considered budget with poor modern game performance when playing anything more demanding than indie game requirements.

Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the Radeon RX 5300. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2023. 300 games can be played by this graphics card of the 1000 most demanding games being played by PC gamers today.

Running at 1080p this card gets a weak frame rate from Resident Evil 8 with 9 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at FIFA 22 which returns a strong 82 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Back 4 Blood which we saw getting a playable 35 FPS.

Moving screen sizes up to 1440p we ran Resident Evil 8 on the Radeon RX 5300 to see that it got a weak set of frame rates. Here are the low to ultra results at 1440p - L: 18FPS, M: 14FPS, H: 10FPS, U: 7FPS. Another popular game to test at 1440p with this card was FIFA 22 which seemed good in performance netting an Ultra FPS of 62 FPS. Finally we then took a look at Back 4 Blood where its Ultra 1440p Frame rates were playable at 26 FPS. Looking at a few of these 1440p results for the Radeon RX 5300 we get the impression that it is a perfectly suitable selection of hardware for theis larger screen size. If a game at 1440p struggles a bit or experiences a frame drop then you can tweak settings in game to help get it stable. This might mean lowering it to medium or low in some specific options.

How many years will the Radeon RX 5300 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 5300 in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Radeon RX 5300 Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The Radeon RX 5300 is an entry-level desktop graphics card which is part of the AMD Radeon RX 5000 series.

Architecture
It is powered by the 7nm Navi GPU, which has 1536 shader processing units, 88 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1000MHz and goes up to 1900MHz when the boost mode is triggered.

Memory
The RX 5300 comes with a 3GB frame buffer of GDDR6 through a 96-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 1750MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 85W, it requires at least a 450W PSU.

Performance
The Radeon RX 5300 has been built as a Low/Mid performance graphics card for 2020. Its direct competitor is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2020 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this Radeon RX 5300 card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.

System Suggestions
The Radeon RX 5300 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid range Ryzen 5 processor and at least 8GB of system memory for optimal gaming performance from the RX 5300.
