AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

What FPS performance can the Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB get on latest AAA 2023 games? In particular our game review looks at the FPS achieved running on Ultra graphics settings on the 1080p screen resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. This graphics hardware can run 956 of the 1000 most demanding PC games played today.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Far Cry 6 and saw it deliver reasonable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 132 FPS, Medium: 104 FPS, High: 70 FPS and Ultra: 50 FPS. We proceeded to look at Back 4 Blood to see how that compared and saw that it returned a good 67 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

People are turning their increasingly more powerful graphics cards to the popular 1440p screen size so we tested the Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB to see how it performs on 1440p. First off we have looked at Far Cry 6 where it was playable. The frame rates it scored for the game presets were - Low: 101 FPS, Medium: 79 FPS, High: 53 FPS and Ultra: 38 FPS. We added Back 4 Blood to our tests and saw it was reasonable with a 51 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And then tested Battlefield 2042 which got 33 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB is a solid choice of hardware for increased screen resolution gaming. We can see this graphics card is capable of delivering reliable frame rates at Ultra and certainly High graphics settings at 1440p.

How many years will the Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for 2 to 3 years of meeting top end game system requirements

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB.

Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB is an Enthusiast Graphics Card based on the fifth (5.0) Revision of the Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture.

Architecture
The Vega 10 XT GPU offers support for HBM-2 Memory, DirectX 12.1 and Open GL 4.6. Vega 10 XT is the Full Variant of the GPU with 64 Compute Units activated, offering 4096 Shader Processing Units, 256 TMUs and 64 ROPs.

GPU
The Central Unit is clocked at 1247MHz with a boost clock speed of 1546MHz.

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with stacked HBM-2 Memory and accesses the Frame Buffer through a 2048-bit memory interface.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 8GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory.
The GPU itself is aimed for 4K Gaming. The 8GB HBM2 framebuffer should be enough to prevent it bottlenecking performance in any AAA title at 4K.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 295W, it requires at least a 600W PSU with two available 8-pin connectors.

Performance
The Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB is in in the same region as the GeForce GTX 1080. However, the ultra-wide HBM2 memory may offer the Radeon RX Vega an advantage at higher resolutions.
System Suggestions
Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB HBM2 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840 x 2160 (4K). We recommend a Very Strong Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
