Radeon HD 7970M Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
Radeon HD 7970M is a High-End Mobile Graphics Card based on the First revision of the GCN Architecture.

Architecture
The GCN Architecture succeeds the 40nm Terascale Architecture. In addition to being produced with a 28nm Technology, the GCN Architecture adds other Technologies that allow for energy efficiency. For example, ZeroCore Power, a long idle power saving technology, allows the Graphics Cards to shut down by itself when the Monitor is turned off.
GCN also adds Improved Anisotropic Filtering, DirectX 11 Tessellation and the Partially Resident Textures (PRT) Technology, which enables future games to utilize ultra-high resolution textures with the same performance as today's small and often repetitive textures.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Wimbledon XT which has 20 Compute Units activated and thus offers 1280 Shader Processing Units, 80 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The Central Unit Operates at 850MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The memory clock operates at 1200MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Crossfire, PowerTune Technology, Eyefinity, App Acceleration, HD3D, ZeroCore Power and other technologies.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 100W, it is suited for very large laptops only.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its on average with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 680M.

System Suggestions
We recommend a Powerful Processor (Intel Core i7 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with Radeon HD 7970M.
