it can make a good difference, depending on the percentage overclock. If you overclock your cpu to 3.3-3.5Ghz it will give you a 20-30% CPU performance boost. :)

I have a feeling that this product is underrated. It has lasted me a good 4 years now, I have played BF3 (high-ultra, 50 fps), Crysis 2 (max, 50-60 fps), GTA4 (max-35 fps) as well as Skyrim (max, 60+ fps). Pretty intensive games that my CPU has crunched through… and still only a 6*?

Products are not rated by which game can they run or how many years they last, how many FPS they give.Benchmarks are based on scores from trustworthy sources.

I see. I always thought that gaming benchmarks were used for the GD rating. But it still kind of sucks that the CPU performs so well in games but does so poorly in benchmarks… oh well…

In fact that CPU performs very well in every benchmark, but when rating one CPU all others must be considered.Slower may get lower rank if some faster are added. If you think that some hardware is miss-ranked visit Pip's blog.

Oh. Well I feel really stupid now. It was my understanding that every component was rated based on performance and not in comparison to other ones. In that case, yeah 6 is about right. Guess I should spend more time on GD and try to understand its methods before I comment on "something not being right" when it actually is, shouldn't I? :D

It's been a 7 for quite a while before Pip's update, actually :D It went down to a 6 for a week or so when the i7 and i5 series were updated and then regained its status.
