Upgraded from this to a Pentium G3258k. Works even better. Maxed out BF3 and could stream 40+ FPS

It really is not recommended to go from a core 2 quad to a pentium or i3. A amd fx 6,8 core or a i5 would have been a worthy upgrade.

Yea, Got 8GB DDR3 now. Had 4GB DDR2 but that's gone now.
Gonna get a XFX R9 290 now. Then I'm going to OC to around 4.5.

There will still be a noticable bottleneck. I suggest keeping your GPU and maybe overclock it a little bit too.

If the software can only utilize 2 cores like most games from 2007 2008 and 2009 then yes, it will perform a bit better. But If the software can utilize 4 cores like most of todays games then a quad core will perform better.

Having 2 gigs of ram and not having a 64 bit o.s. most likely is a huge bottle neck on your system…

Which cpu is better? q8200 or q6600?
q6600 is a bit faster in GHz, but q8200 has faster FSB and its more efficient.
What do you think?

Although Q8200 is newer tech, the Q6600 is a bit better; a tad faster and of course, more L2 cache (8Mb). Also, its easier to overclock ;)
