Hi! Do you think this cpu is gonna make a fine upgrade to my gaming PC?? I'm also considering a 6700K (could get this one around 150 PLN (-35 euro) cheaper) Will it go with my current MoBo and the Silentium Fera cooling I'm using now?? thnx

Totally worth it i7 7700k!!exellent for gaming or anything! My biggest boost is wildlands: from medium/high to very high(boost 10 to 20 fps!) :) If you have a great cooler, forget my message. If you have a stock cooler you must have to a new cooler, master 212 evo or any other great cooler,or a liquid cooler if you want to OC.

My MoBo is MSI H110M PRO-D (MS-7996) at least this is what I found out from the command prompt. As I said before, I'm using a Silentium Fera (https://www.silentiumpc.com/en/fera-3-he1224/)

I heard that although this CPU is overclockable no problem, it's rather unnecessary for you to do it given its base speed and power, so I don't think I'll go for it ;)
And thank you for your informative reply :)

how much can i overclock my cpu. Im using dark rock 3 cpu cooler (190w TDP).
Also i have Fractal define C case with 4x 140mm fans. 2x Fan input airfloat and 2x output airfloat.
i dont want to overheat the system. Also i need to know will the use of overclocked cpu might damage the cpu in longterm use.

Something tells me it's NOT 4% better than 4960X. By my calculations, it should be 20% worse.

Zlib test runs at 76MB/s for 2 threads @ 3.6GHz. That puts 4960X to 456MB/s.
7700K runs at 378MB/s as expected.
19% difference

Lol so compressing and decompressing. That would also mean that the Ryzen 5 1600x is stronger than this chip at gaming as well :/ except it isn't….

for gaming alone it it actually about 10% worst. Benchmarks and business solutions are where your cpu will shine.

well I know its a little worse in gaming but its a massive performance increase in basically every multicore workload, I thought GD took in account for full performance not just gaming.
