I've used this processor with an Nvidia 550Ti, Nvidia 760, and now a Radeon HD7850. I don't blame my GPU's but my CPU is the obvious reason for very, very obvious reason for low FPS in most games(Far Cry 3-4, GTA 4, and even Half-Life.)DNB

Can I combine this CPU with (almost) any GPU high gamma today, and play at least 60 fps (almost) every game? Which GPU would be a perfect combination for this?. I'm not looking ultra gaming settings, just medium/high.

R9 270 Could run everything on medium/high. It wouldn't bottleneck this CPU, and it shouldn't be too expensive

Yes. There will be a pretty big bottleneck. Anyway atm there arent so many games that requires more than you have. In future you will see that bottleneck will hit hard with your CPU.

Answer is not that simple
in Battlefield, game which use all your 6 cores, you will feel no bottleneck but in Farcry3, yes, you will lose some frames

farcry3 uses 4cores if you play on ultra settings and i belive even on stock speeds the amd fx 6100 have enough powerful cores to run game without bottlenecking gpu keep in mind they run at 3.3ghz at stock speeds and goes up to 3.9ghz

I dont think so, after 15 years i never heard about cpu dying becasue of some defect, they are all tested
There is always something more in that i.e. temperatures, faulty psu, mechanical damage …

I would suggest an AMD fx-8320. It is as fast as the fx-6300 but has 8 cores instead of 6.
