FX-4100 is a middle-class CPU based on the 32nm Bulldozer architecture.


It offers 4 Physical Cores (4 Logical), initially clocked at 3.6GHz, which may go up to 3.7GHz and 8MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Core and Virtualization are activated and the clock multiplier is unlocked, meaning it can be overclocked easily.


The processor DOES NOT integrated any graphics. and has a rated board TDP of 95W.


It offers average performance. It will therefore become a bottleneck in today's demanding games.

fx 6300 if you're on a buget, if not get the 8320 or 8350… these 2 are the best of the am3+ socket

Get an amd fx 8320 or 8350…!!if!! Your mobo supports up to 125w. If not. Get an fx8320e or better yet an fx 8370e….. it means it has a w of 95… so look for the "e".

Arma is heavily reliant on your CPUs single-core performance and that's where AMD's CPUs are weak. The best thing to do would be to upgrade to something Intel, even a Pentium G3258 (which you can OC) would give better FPS. An i3 or i5 would of course be even better. This would obviously mean a new motherboard too, but if you have the money it would be well worth it. Otherwise go with above.

he can play arma 3 multiplayer(MP) no problem, it uses dx11 and I run it with 45fps min 80fps max, ultra settings, but arma II MP, that's another story..

He should be able to run it 35fps+ since his cpu is bulldozer and mine is piledriver there is 15% clock for clock/IPC difference, but still, arma 3 uses more than 1 core, unlike arma 2. And yes I do recommend getting an intel i5 if he wishes to play this game, not that he will get better performance than the g3258, it's just that 4x cores is always great to have for gaming, they are not needed in 99.9% of the times, but it's just nice to have them.

I'd imagine he wants more than that since he asked. It does utilize more than 1 core, but is still reasonably heavily single-threaded, hence why I always recommend Intel for Arma. In the grand scheme of things, of course the 4 cores of the i5 are better to have for other games than the 2 of the G3258.

I'm having alot of trouble,Dayz/arma runs in 12 fps, watch dogs laggs like hell on low, Tryied all, updated bios, drivers, even 2 hotfixes from microsoft.

Watch dogs lags on low even with an i7 and a gtx 780 so don't be upset on the CPU.. be upset with the optimisation of these games

Get a better CPU now. I had a fx4100 before. So I feel you… get an fx 8xxxe. With an e. So you can still use your mobo. If it can't do 125w. Now is a good time to upgrade. Trust me…. with all these AAA games coming out. A poor CPU is the last thing you`ll want to have

Bro if his mobo and his rig have a fx-8350 why should he be going for the ''e'' versions… the only upgrade he can make is the 8370 and it's not worth it at all

If I had had more money, I would have obviously gone for the 4100's big brother the 8350 when building my rig. But nevertheless this processor has given me everything I need, for the most part. The only times it struggles are when I've modded a game to the underworld and back, but on vanilla, I can play most any game on with fair fps. The 4100 is a perfect mid/upper range gaming CPU.

i was always curios why can t i get more than 4.0 ghz so i removed my heatsink and i almoust didn t see no thermal paste left xD
i added the artic mx-4 paste and oc to 4.2 ghz and my temperature dropped by 15 C now i have max 60 C

I've overclocked mine on 4.2GHz stable, so I think that this is the read deal for games comparing to phenom II x6 1055t, I think you should get this one for gaming because it's better for in game performance, especially if you overclock it like I did on 4.2GHz…

Also, 1055t is older, it's lithography is 45nm, but overall it's better processor and as the 4100 can be overclocked, but buy it only if you already have AM3 board, if you are buying a brand new PC go with 4100, AM3 is dead socket and you 1055 is the best while in AM3+ you can upgrade to a lot better processors.

GD says that phenom is better than fx4100 but when you try to test it in latest games it won't give you as good performance as fx-4100…

i have a stock cooler and my motherboard won t let me go higher anyway xD i plan to buy a gigabyte hd 7870 should i expect some bottleneck ??? And how much cause i wouldn t want to buy a new cpu …
