Low Vs Ultra GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR5 Performance Review
The experience of playing Quake IV through a GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR5 is going to return a consistently high 200+ frame rate. Which is at High settings on 1080p performance.
And so following those results you could of course play this at 1080p, but this GPU is somewhat wasted at that resolution. We would suggest running Quake IV at 4K Ultra instead, where the GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR5 would still get 200+ FPS at these performance hungry settings and resolution.
This is a powerful graphics card for Quake IV and we can certainly recommend it to deliver 4K screen res at ultra settings. Get a system with at least 0.512GB of RAM though. The PC’s processor would also want to be around the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core 3.8GHz’s performance to get a smooth experience.
In summary, if you are looking to play Quake IV in Ultra then you have come with the right graphics card. The GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR5 can chew through the graphical performance needs of the game with relative ease. 1080p Ultra will return 200+ frames, then the larger screen resolution of 1440p can deliver 200+ FPS, with the 4K resolution seeing 200+ FPS in Ultra as well.
