Area 51 packshot image
An unknown virus has been released inside Area 51, and Team Bravo has been assigned to clean it up. Once inside, the team discovers that the virus turns people into murderous mutants, and anyone killed by a mutant turns into a mutant themselves. As the game progresses, members of Team Bravo (and soldiers Ethan meets) are killed one by one by mutants, until only Ethan Cole, the player character, is left alive. Ethan is later bitten by a mutant, slowly turning him into a mutant.rnrn

Area 51

Radeon RX 550 2GB

Low Vs Ultra Radeon RX 550 2GB Performance Review

Running a Radeon RX 550 2GB to play Area 51 shows us that we expect it to return a consistently high 200+ frame rate. Note that those results would be running at High and 1920x1080 screen res.

Following on from those 1920x1080 screen FPS, we know this GPU is of a much higher performance than the recommended system specs. Even 4K Ultra returns 200+ FPS on Area 51. But it’s still worth considering the $0.10 per Ultra 4K FPS you would get compared to the $0.06 at 1440p Ultra.

This is a powerful graphics card for Area 51 and we can certainly recommend it to deliver 4K screen res at ultra settings. Get a system with at least 0.512GB of RAM though. The PC’s processor would also want to be around the AMD Ryzen R3 1200X’s performance to get a smooth experience.

To summarise, this game runs easily using this graphics card at all resolutions. Area 51 gets 200+ FPS at 4K Ultra costing $0.10 per frame. But if that doesnt feel right for you then you can drop the graphics setting down to High for 200+ FPS costing $0.07 per frame. Otherwise you can get some great performance by moving down a resolution bracket to 1440p. 200+ FPS in Ultra 1440p costing $0.06 per frame or 1440p High gets 200+ FPS costing $0.04 per frame.
