Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen packshot image
The opening chapter in the Legacy of Kain series is an epic hack-and-slash role-playing game, played from a top-down perspective, and covering a huge world of varied indoor and outdoor environments. When it was first released, it received high praise for its mature, involving storyline, its intriguing anti-hero, and its fantastic voice acting; a rarity in videogames at the time. Although it is technically dated by today's standards, and would probably appeal most to older gamers, the plot remains as strong as ever. The player takes the role of Kain, a selfish nobleman who is murdered by a band of brigands. A Necromancer visits Kain in the Underworld, and offers him a way to avenge his death: by returning to the world of the living as a vampire. Kain rashly accepts the proposal, and soon he is involved in a much bigger quest than he anticipated. His hunger for vengeance leads him into battle against a number of powerful, dangerous and manipulative sorcerers, as his agenda becomes mixed with the task of repairing the sacred 'Pillars of Nosgoth' and restoring Balance to the land.

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen

GeForce GTX 1060

Low Vs Ultra GeForce GTX 1060 Performance Review

Viewing the performance found on the 4 year old GeForce GTX 1060 while playing Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen we quickly see it can get a very strong 200+ FPS. With that performance recorded at 1920x1080 res when running High graphics.

As this is a relatively powerful GPU, especially when comparing it to Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen rec requirements, it would make more sense if you pushed it up to 1440p or 4K, where even at Ultra 4K graphics settings the GeForce GTX 1060 will still get a solid 200+ FPS.

With a system housing a graphics card like the GeForce GTX 1060 and some 0.032GB RAM, we will see a strong 4K Ultra result in Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen. Look for a processor like the Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz CPU to go with this setup and Ultra is a sure thing.

To summarise, GeForce GTX 1060 graphics cards can smoothly run this game, but what Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen screen resolution would you like to run with? While you can get 200+ FPS with 4K Ultra you can increase your frame rate to 200+ FPS in Ultra 1440p and up to 200+ FPS with 1080p. Pricing this on a frame per frame around the graphics cards original price it will cost $0.02 per 1080p Ultra frame. This increases to $0.02 per frame at 1440p Ultra and even more with 4K Ultra at $0.03 per frame.
