The Skies

GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q

Low Vs Ultra GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q Performance Review

The experience of playing The Skies through a 3 year old GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q is going to return a consistently high 165 frame rate. Note that those results would be running at High and 1920x1080 screen res.

And so following those results you could of course play this at 1080p, but this GPU is somewhat wasted at that resolution. We would suggest running The Skies at 4K Ultra instead, where the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q would still get 53 FPS at these performance hungry settings and resolution. When considering the GPUs release price, this comes in at $0 per Ultra 4K FPS or $0 at 1440p Ultra.

To summarise, we are in the realms of who gives a crap, when looking at game hardware demands, because the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q card will play The Skies at Ultra settings almost regardless of the screen resolutions. 4K Ultra will get 53 frame rate, 1440p can deliver 90 FPS, and the lower resolution of 1080p comes in at 118 frames per second. For interest the cost per frame rate would look like this - 1080p Ultra costs $0, 1440p costs $0 and 4K costs $0.
