Chronicles of the Sword packshot image
Chronicles of the Sword is a sword and sorcery adventure game created by Synthetic Dimensions and produced and released by Psygnosis in 1996 for the PC DOS and Sony PlayStation platforms. The game's plot is loosely based on Arthurian legends; this was the second game from Psygnosis that was based on this theme, the first being The Legend of Galahad. The story is set in King Arthur's mythical court of Camelot, located in Albion, Sub-Roman Britain, circa 420 A.D. The player takes on the role of Sir Gawain, a young knight of Arthur struggling to uphold virtues of the kingdom. Gawain's quest is to stop Morgan le Fay, the Arthur's beautiful half-sister who is secretly an evil sorceress, before she can wreak destruction on Camelot. Morgana plots to reveal Lancelot and Lady Guinevere's affair to the world, thus overthrowing Arthur and seizing power.

Chronicles of the Sword

GeForce GTX 1060

Low Vs Ultra GeForce GTX 1060 Performance Review

Viewing the performance found on the 3 year old GeForce GTX 1060 while playing Chronicles of the Sword we quickly see it can get a very strong 140 FPS. With that performance recorded at 1920x1080 res when running High graphics.

As this is a relatively powerful GPU, especially when comparing it to Chronicles of the Sword rec requirements, it would make more sense if you pushed it up to 1440p or 4K, where even at Ultra 4K graphics settings the GeForce GTX 1060 will still get a solid 45 FPS.

To summarise, GeForce GTX 1060 graphics cards can smoothly run this game, but what Chronicles of the Sword screen resolution would you like to run with? While you can get 45 FPS with 4K Ultra you can increase your frame rate to 76 FPS in Ultra 1440p and up to 100 FPS with 1080p. Pricing this on a frame per frame around the graphics cards original price it will cost $2.49 per 1080p Ultra frame. This increases to $3.28 per frame at 1440p Ultra and even more with 4K Ultra at $5.53 per frame.
