Trade Empires packshot image
Trade Empires is a PC game developed by Frog City Software in San Francisco and published by Eidos Interactive. During development its working title was The Silk Road; however, this was changed by Eidos Interactive as they were concerned about the title being too highbrow. Trade Empires is a pausable real-time strategy game about building a merchant empire. Gamers build vast transport and trade networks that change over thousands of years as new technologies are developed and more modern products are discovered. The rules of the game are simple; the variety comes in through the discovery of new products to trade and new ways to transport those products.

Radeon RX 550 2GB

Low Vs Ultra Radeon RX 550 2GB Performance Review

Running a Radeon RX 550 2GB to play Trade Empires shows us that we expect it to return a consistently high 200+ frame rate. Note that those results would be running at High and 1920x1080 screen res.

Following on from those 1920x1080 screen FPS, we know this GPU is of a much higher performance than the recommended system specs. Even 4K Ultra returns 200+ FPS on Trade Empires. But it’s still worth considering the $0.02 per Ultra 4K FPS you would get compared to the $0.01 at 1440p Ultra.

This is a powerful graphics card for Trade Empires and we can certainly recommend it to deliver 4K screen res at ultra settings. Get a system with at least 0.064GB of RAM though. The PC’s processor would also want to be around the AMD Ryzen R3 1200X’s performance to get a smooth experience.

To summarise, this game runs easily using this graphics card at all resolutions. Trade Empires gets 200+ FPS at 4K Ultra costing $0.02 per frame. But if that doesnt feel right for you then you can drop the graphics setting down to High for 200+ FPS costing $0.01 per frame. Otherwise you can get some great performance by moving down a resolution bracket to 1440p. 200+ FPS in Ultra 1440p costing $0.01 per frame or 1440p High gets 200+ FPS costing $0.01 per frame.
