Half-Life: Alyx

Radeon RX 580 4GB

Low Vs Ultra Radeon RX 580 4GB Performance Review

Playing Half-Life: Alyx on the Radeon RX 580 4GB, which is a 4 year old graphics card will likely have a low FPS of 33 frames per second. Note that those results would be running at High and 1920x1080 screen res.

In lieu of those results we would not recommend the Radeon RX 580 4GB to run Half-Life: Alyx on 1440p. Running it at 1440p Medium is certainly something that the Radeon RX 580 4GB could do. Returning a playable 37 frames a second on the reasonably large resolution setting of 2560x1440. But by contrast Ultra 1080p will get 24 FPS on Half-Life: Alyx.

To summarise, you may be toying with the idea that a 1440p resolution could be achieved with this Radeon RX 580 4GB graphics card, but in so doing you would have to drop the graphics settings to pretty Low according to our assessment. But let the Half-Life: Alyx frame rate numbers decide and guide. 1080p Medium 49 FPS, 1080p High setting: 33 FPS, 1080p Ultra setting: 24 FPS, 1440p Low setting: 47 FPS, 1440p Medium setting: 37 FPS. Our Low vs Ultra analysis tells us that you would be better placed running this at 1080p, but at least you could still tinker with graphics settings for 1440p to perhaps be passable?
