That too. Though for what he is going to do I was dealing with a laptop with 4GB RAM. 8GB would be fine, 16+ liberating. I personally use 24GB on my lappy and 32GB on my dual-xeon workstation.

In the real world, however, there is no perceivable (OR a clearly measurable) difference, so need to worry about such trivial things.

CGI is computer-generated imagery, what hes asking is if anyone wants to collaborate on a bit of animating.

Just the ending of Bioshock Infinite. You know people crying and what ever happened at the end. I initially thought of a full Bioshock CGI(all three games and 2 DLCs) but its a really big project which will take up atleast 2 years if 2 people work on it dedicatedly.

you don't need powerful PC for creation, especially non-shaded, 2D or wireframe modes run pretty fine even on low-end PCs and laptops, but rendering is heavy even for serious rigs depending on renderer settings :Đ

@Tzzsmk - I know, a lot of my current portfolio artwork was created using a 2GHz AMD dual-core laptop. I once rendered a 4K frame for 152h on it :D
But having a decent machine sure helps! (I've specked up my laptop for iray, hence why the 2 GPUs. My workstation with dual 2.6GHz 10-core Xeons (40 threads) + GTX 780 still renders slower in iray than this lappy :D GPU>CPU)

Yep! But one has to still be careful when picking a GPU. At least for me, since I render on the GPU, the render speed with iray is literally "CUDA count x clock", so there's some calculation involved :D
But yeah, CPUs are designed to do one task at a time really quickly, while the GPUs are designed to do a bunch of stuff in parallel, albeit much slower. But the shader count army wins out :D

Still have to use it with Win7 though. IDK why it lags a whole lot worse than Win version at higher poly counts. And the render time too is large(I use CUDA on Win 7 to use my 640m so that is sort of expected as Linux doesnt support CUDA).
