Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 Review

The 970A-DS3 motherboard is designed to offer a stable, high-speed platform for delivering amazingly fast data transfer via the GIGABYTE 333 onboard acceleration technologies. Featuring the USB3.0 controller, AMD 900 series motherboards allow users to take advantage of super fast USB transfer rates of up to 5Gbps, delivering 10x faster data transfer compared to USB 2.0. Utilizing the industry's first Serial ATA Revision 3.0 solution via AMD SB950 chipset, GIGABYTE AMD 900 series motherboards offer native 6 ports of next generation high speed data storage devices support with data transfer speeds of up to 6 Gbps with RAID 0, 1, 5, 10. The AMD 900 series motherboards introduce a unique hardware design with lower resistance fuses for ensuring lower voltage drops and providing more stable and plentiful power delivery. All USB ports also benefit from a 3x power boost for better power delivery to power hungry USB devices.

Nope, 4 phase power delivery. If you like a crispy mobo you can try.

Pretty good overall. Unfortunately I couldn't find an adapter for the USB 3 on the Front Panel of my case and it has only 2 connectors for case fans (apart from the one for CPU, ofc). And only 1 of them has PWM. But I managed somehow to keep things somewhat quiet thanks to EasyTune 6 which was… easy to use. It didn't take me long to figure out how it worked, especially for a guy whose IT knowledge is pretty basic… or maybe not even that much.

Also, I got rev 3.0 which is compatible with AM3+ processors. It seems that previous rev's cause trouble or don't work at all… There are many people complaining about it.
Oh, I just realized that I said something stupid. There was no need to say this: "(apart from the one for CPU, ofc)", since I had already mentioned "case fans" :P

Considering upgrading to this MB to accommodate the FX-9350 I'd like to get, any owners have any comments? Thanks

Well it's great for a low budget like mine, and it supports 32 GB of RAM which will be great in the future. It will support any AM3+ CPU (like the 8350). It doesn't support Crossfire or SLI so if you want more than 1 GPU don't buy it.

it does not completely support SLI/Crossfire as one of the PCIe x16 slots only runs at x4 speeds. this forces both GPU's to run at the lower speed when in SLI/Crossfire

it can support them however, it does not provide full support as one of the PCIe x16 slots can only run at x4 speeds. this means that when running in sli or crossfire it forces both GPU's down to the far lower x4 speed.
that being said, it is a great mobo for any single GPU build.
