A bit late but no, the Z97 Gaming 5 is like the newer version of this one. The Gaming 7 is newer version of the higher end Z87-GD65

I suggest the z97 only because it is a new chipset and newer processors like devils canyon will use z97 chipset. but he cant go wrong with either choice, both are great motherboards and they both excell in overclocking ability

yes, it's a great motherboard, if you could stretch your budget, the gd65 gaming is a better option.
