Like the gaming equivalent of Night of the Living Dead, it seems Command & Conquer doesn’t know when to stay buried.

After the cancellation of EA’s upcoming reboot in October, it seems a resurrection is very much on the cards for the latest iteration of the hugely successful strategy franchise…

Developer Victory Games cited negative feedback from users during the testing phase as a reason for the cancellation, before the studio was completely laid off. EA clearly know how to command and conquer.

Nevertheless, after this sad news for wartime strategists comes a revelation of reincarnation buried away deep in EA’s support pages. In it, EA explains that it will refund any money spent on or in the game’s Alpha, adding;

For those of you who bought The C&C Ultimate Collection, your early access to the beta will be honored once production of this title resumes under a new studio. We would like to thank you for your time and interest in Command & Conquer, and we look forward to sharing the news with you when production resumes on this title in the future.” Game on.

While this is by no means confirmation of Command & Conquer’s renewed existence, it does fan the flames of war somewhat. It might be a little fan, but a breeze is all it may take to get the C&C war machine rumbling once again.

Of course we spare a thought for the now ex-staff at Victory Games, whom it seems have been laid off and had all their hard work seized off them by the not-so-gentle giant that is EA.

So, it might be back on soon, are you still hyped up for this series reboot?

Did you get a chance to hop in the Alpha, was Victory Games’ title not all it looked?

I don't get why they don't just do generals 2 based off the demand for it.

No I mean go back to the original plan C&C online ended up being some f2p that was going to incorporate every C&C universe it sounded a mess. Just make generals 2 and make it buy to play is what they should have done.

I can't wait for this game to come out... they are no good strategy games in the last two years. It looks like this genre is going to die

Yep, EA are officially coming out from their "king of evil" phase...I don't think it was right of them to completely get rid of Victory games, then again, it shows I suppose that if you don't do a game right, you're screwed. I am interested to see who will get ahold of CnC, and how they will do it here's hoping they DO have a singleplayer campaign, and it's good.

EA has that incredible franchise with millions fans and doesnt release something from 2010! A new game An expansion something! In the same time from 2010-2013 we had 2 call of duty , 2 resident evil etc. What happened to C&C? i love this game and a lot of people i think! EA must work and put a lot of resources to bring back the classic C&C and customers will reward this try!

CnC is made with love, it's not rushed out the door, that's why it's taken 3 years to even release an Alpha, then the cancellation. talking games in series, GTA V came out this year, a GTA hadn't been seen since 2008. Would you rather a thrown together piece of trash CnC be released so you could have one quick, OR would you rather EA having a studio put a lot of time and effort into it for it to be good?

I don't think EA is in the wrong when it comes to the layoffs, the Dev made a **** game, EA don't want to waste money on them, and frankly most of us wouldn't play their game. I still have a hope of more C&C though.
