Rockstar has promised via its latest newswire posting that there will be significant story-based Grand Theft Auto 5 downloadable content in 2014.
Many of us are still waiting for a sniff of the title on PC or next-gen consoles, but it seems the priority for Rockstar at the moment is pushing out additional GTA Online content as well as the inevitable single-player expansion packs typified by GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare...
“For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas.”
What form the DLC will take is still unknown, but judging from Rockstar’s previous form we can expect it to be on the expansive side.
It’s now been nearly three months now since GTA V’s release for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and things have finally settled down in the game’s online component, whose initial launch made Battlefield 4’s look like plain sailing. This week will see Rockstar releasing the Deathmatch and Race Creator tools to allow you to craft your own carnage on the streets of Los Santos, giving you the opportunity to publish your setups for the community to share and rate.
As well as this, sometime in December Rockstar will be introducing a new Capture mode, presenting “A proper GTA twist on classic capture the flag.” This has up to four squads battling it out to steal, capture, and blow up each other’s bases. Not content with that, Rockstar seems to be pushing multiplayer support out to 2014, promising GTA Online Heists; "We know many of you in the GTA Online community are super excited for the debut of co-operative Heists. Heists are currently in development and we are working very hard to get them as polished and as fun as they can be. Stay tuned for much more detail in the New Year.”
There’s still no word of a PC release for GTA V as of yet.
