UPDATE: Konami has confirmed that the details listed on Amazon are correct. So it looks like we really can expect MGR: R in three weeks time, and that those outlandish CPU requirements do come directly from them.

Konami's Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance system requirements have come to light along with a plausible release date.

Konami said this week that PC Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - which released on current-gen consoles ten months ago and was announced for PC in May - would be ready "very soon". Well we are now seeing some glimmers of information to support its imminent arrival and they are saying that MG Rising Revengeance should be with us shortly into the new year...

According to the online shopping giant, Amazon, the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be available for PC on 9th January 2014. That's just three weeks to wait to until you can play MG Rising, and this will undoubtedly excite many gamers who will welcome the chance for a highly anticipated PC title arriving during the normally quiet January period after Christmas. So you may wish to save some Christmas money if you get some from your grand parents.

Alongside the release date, the game page lists the system requirements for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. These have not yet been confirmed by Konami, but are listed on the official retail page for the publisher:

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Minimum System Requirements

OS: XP or Vista or 7 or 8

CPU: Intel Core i5 2400

RAM: 2 GB RAM

HD: 25 GB available space

GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTS 450

DX: 9.0

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Recommended System Requirements

OS: XP or Vista or 7 or 8

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770

RAM: 4 GB RAM

HD: 25 GB available space

GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 650

----

The requirements are surprisingly high given that the game is being ported from the now old, current-gen consoles.

In terms of GPU, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is not insignificant, but should be manageable if you've got a reasonably recent high-mid range rig. However, it's the CPU requirements that many will undoubtedly find a little eye-watering. The MGR: Revengeance requires an Intel i7 3770 processor - a veritable beast of a chip - which will be out of reach for many would-be Metal Gear players, and even the minimum processor requirement i5 2400 is a pretty hefty CPU.

The pace of the game will likely make this high requirement even more problematic. Playing a game as fast-paced as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance with a low frame rate would likely prove frustrating. This might be problematic for anyone wanting to play the game on lower requirements, as this really isn't a title you want to be playing under 40FPS.

Meanwhile, head over to the Metal Gear Rising Revengeance system requirements game page to see how well your rig holds up to these game specs.

As of yet, these requirements are only released on Amazon. We've reached out to Konami asking them to confirm that 9th January is the official release date, and that these are the official system requirements for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. It's worth noting that the listing on Amazon names the game as "Metal Gear Rising: Vengeance". This could be a typo, or a possible indication of a slightly unreliable entry.

Let us know if you think these are solid MGR: R requirements and we'll update as soon as we know more.

wait for some benchmarks and reviews of this game and see how it runs,i'm sure you'll be able to run it with no problems. an i7 3770 recommended for this open worlds games like Arma 3 didn't require such cpu's

This game will probably have i5-2400 at most in recommended... Hell I would not be surprised if people with an i3-2100 (about comparable to your Phenom II X4 955) were playing this on high-max (paired with the appropriate GPU of course)...

I don't care about the requirements, I will max this xD I'll probably buy an FX-6300 till than but even if I don't, I can't imagine this game not running on my PC. Those are very unrealistic and silly requirements.

Thinking about if any PS5 or XB2 release in distant future, what will the name of that generation console games? Forward Gen?

Well, now that we are at "next gen" I guess we can call it current gen. Then the PS5 or XB2 would be called next gen.

Please refer to my comments below... You should max this easily even on 1080p so that resolution will be no trouble at all...

So judging by this requirements I won't be able to play it because of my CPU.Even BF4 has lower CPU requirements.I don't think these are true requirements

Keep in mind that this is a seventh gen console game simply being ported to PC... System requirements are going to be no higher than for 2011-12 demanding titles... i5-2400 is probably going to be overkill for this game... Hell I would not be surprised if it was maxed out on an i3-2100 (paired with the appropriate GPU of course)...

i7-3770k :( that's not expected and minimum req. is i5-2400, ram is also confusing 2gb minimum and 4gb recomended the req. look quite unstable like pairing i5 with 2gb ram and i7 with 4gb ram, minimu gpu is gts450 and recomend is gtx650 there is hardy and difference between both these gpu's gpuboss :) i think it's fake

These are definitely fake... Any Sandy or Ivy Bridge i5 quad core can run most (if not all) games out now on max (paired with the appropriate GPU of course)... Hell i5-2400 can run Crysis 3 maxed out when paired with something like a GTX 670 or GTX 770... And dipankar is right, GTX 650 is not a big step up from GTS 450... Minimum system requirements are more likely to be the standard 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo with may be GeForce 8800...

Nobody complains about 25 GB hard drive space? This game only have like 6-8 hours of campaign :p

I assure you It's mostly due to language files. You'd be surprised at how much those kinda files can really amp up the overall size of a game.

I call bull**** on the requirements, note the difference in GPU for minimum and recommended and also I get the feeling this game will (obviously) be very playable on a dual core CPU such as mine albeit not on very high settings but eh... to hell with it. The only reason I am upgrading from a GT 430 to an HD 7790 (and the ram from 4GB to 8GB) is due to the fact that games are becoming more and more unplayable on my rig. Still waiting for the hardware though then I'll submit my benchmark.

Loooooooool xDD
This is the same thing as in AC4 or COD Ghosts.Devs had a deal with hardware companies and so they cranked up requireemnts so people would buy new hardware.Hell,I'm playing AC4 on high settings on my native resolution (without next gen effects and vsync turned off) smoothly. As for COD Ghosts, game doesn't use that 6gb of ramm even on max settings lol :D
