A ton of details have emerged about Turtle Rock’s upcoming asynchronous multiplayer title Evolve, that pits a squad of four hunters up against a player-controlled monster baying for their blood.

Details including classes, abilities and the alien evolution have now provided some insight into what we can expect from the Left 4 Dead developer’s next shooter…

There will be four classes in the game at launch, consisting of assault, medic, support and trapper. The assault class will obviously focus on damage and have a personal shield that can be popped up. The medic has a sniper rifle as well as an area of effect health regeneration. The support role will assist the other classes and improve their abilities while finally the trapper will have a mobile arena in which the monster can be caged.

There will be multiple planets in Evolve, with the first level being set on Shear. It’s not currently known how the planets will differ; whether there will be different wildlife or even if the monster will change form. On Shear there will be an objective-based mission where the hunter team have to co-operate to take down a barricade. The monster - known as Goliath - likes to keep things simple, killing all four players at the same time for victory.

Obviously with a name like Evolve, Darwin’s theory was going to have to stick its oar in at some point. The Goliath is capable of evolving throughout a match, consuming wildlife to become larger and more aggressive. Obviously the pressure’s on for the hunter team to complete their objectives as quickly as possible before Goliath fancies an h'orderve.

Goliath is capable of evolving to a not inconsiderable 30ft, so it’s just as well that the hunter team is equipped with jet packs for rapid dodge moves, especially once Goliath gains enough experience to breath fire and throw boulders.

The team at Turtle Rock are promising large-scale environments and dynamic wildlife, as well as tracking abilities as your scour for footprints and disturbed land to find your prey.

Like the sound of Evolve so far?

What are you hoping for from the other alien creatures and planets?

Well yes it sounds like natural selection 2 with out a commander but L4d was just like killing floor thing is one game provided a whole different kind of fun. Thing is two games can sound the same on paper and play completely differently.
