Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is out now around the world, but many PC gamers who bought Konami’s latest on Steam are experiencing problems when changing the Lords of Shadow 2 resolution.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 crashes when the resolution is changed to anything other than the default for many users, but some people have managed to figure out a workaround to this annoying problem…

Steam user Kay0otiK is among many Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 gamers complaining the game crashes if they change the resolution, saying that “i wanted to change the resolution but everytime i try it to change to ANYTHING it crashes, what can i do? i can play this game easy on max settings but cant change resolution?

So far there’s a couple of workarounds to get Lords of Shadow 2 working at a resolution higher than 720p. First of all go to your Castlevania install file, this should be located somewhere like this “C:\Users\[YOUR USER]\Documents\Mercury Steam\Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2\[LONG NUMBER]” From there find the game.cfg file and right click it, selecting open with notepad. From here find the resolution section and type in your desired resolution, eg ‘1920x1080’. Save the document and boot up the game, hopefully in your desired resolution.

If, however, after booting up the game this doesn’t work, try disabling the Steam Overlay. To do this right-click Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 in your Steam library and select Properties. On the General tab make sure that the box next to ‘Enable Steam Community In-Game’ is unticked. Now boot up Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and change the resolution as you would normally.

GDers, be sure to let us know if you've encountered this problem! Have either of these fixes worked for you?
